Proper preparation protects you in case of a damage claim and helps the transporter load your car safely.
Car preparation checklist
- Wash the car so existing scratches and dents are visible during inspection.
- Take dated photos and a video of all sides, roof, interior and odometer.
- Remove personal belongings – most transporters do not insure items left inside.
- Keep fuel at about 1/4 tank – enough to load/unload, but lighter overall.
- Remove or secure accessories – roof racks, spoilers, antennas, dashcams.
- Check for leaks and inform the transporter of any mechanical issues.
- Disable the alarm or explain how to turn it off.
- Hand over one key only and keep the spare.
At pickup
Inspect the car together with the transporter's representative and make sure every existing mark is noted on the inspection report before you sign.
